Touring in 2008, the Robin Trower Band took on yet another reformation. This time, and again a former Trower ( from the early 90's touring line up) alumni, Glenn Letsch has returned to replace bassist Dave Bronze who had decided to pursue other opportunities.
Recording and touring pro bassist, Glenn, has worked with the likes of  Gregg Allman, Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon from Journey, Ronnie Montrose (Gamma)and many others.

Steve .......  at what age did you first get the playing bug?
Glenn.......I grew up playing sax starting in 4th grade (1958) as my dad's hero was the virtuoso saxophonist with the John Phillip Sousa Band, Fred Bayers.
Later on when The Beatles went on Ed Sullivan in Feb 1964, my brother bought and shared a guitar.  It was a 31 dollar Kay from a pawn shop. The action was so high, it was nearly impossible to fret a single chord.  But we could work out single note surf melodies, and toughen our fingers up for the Strat and Jazz bass that we bought six months later.  My mom drove us into Manhattan NY City where we got the great  40% off deal.  $240 for each axe. I was to be the guitarist and my brother (who was already a great trumpeter) would play the bass and we would start a band with a drummer from a drum and bugle corp.

Steve: What was it that got you interested in the bass in  particular?

Glenn :  My pals told me if I borrowed my brother's bass they would teach me  some songs and I could be in this cooler hipper band with the top  players.  My brother was two years ahead of me so he had his clique and I had mine.

Steve :  When you started playing what bands were you listening too?
Glenn:   The Beatles, Stones, Everly Brothers, Little Richard, James Brown ,
   Jerry  Lee Lewis

Steve:  What sort of formal training do you have?
Glenn :   I have formal training  on sax as I said earlier...........7 years.  I am self taught on
 guitar and bass.

Steve :  When and how did you hook up with Ronnie Montrose?.
Glenn:  I drove  cross country to move to LA in 1979.
Joined producer Mitchell  Froom's band after an cattle call audtion.
Mitchell had just come  off the Open Fire Ronnie Montrose tour.  Ronnie offered to produce  our demo, where I first worked with him.
The night after tracking the basics, Ronnie called me (with Mitchell's permission) and asked me to join Gamma and be part of the rhythm section with original Montrose drummer Denny Carmassi (who is to this day one of my very best friends)

Steve :  When and where did you meet Davey Pattison?
Glenn: I met Davey the First time Gamma played the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood.
I was not in the band yet, but it was the ONLY band I wanted to join.  Davey and I have been best friends ever since.  Davey Pattison is one of the finest soul singers on the planet.  It is an honor to
be in a band with him again.
